DO IT YOURSELF

Here are some easy Do-It Yourself that can help you save money.

  1. If power is out in a specific area, look for a tripped breaker in your panel box for that area. Push that breaker to the off position until it clicks, then to the on position until it clicks. If it will not stay in the on position and trips back off, call an electrician for service.
  2. If power is out in a specific area, check for GFCI’s. GFCI’s are receptacles with a trip and reset button on them and are typically in locations where there is water or moisture. Just press the reset button on all your GFCI’s and if it trips back off, call an electrician.
  3. If a breaker trips, sometimes it could be an over loaded circuit. Try to figure out what is going at the time the breaker trips and what’s plugged in. If you unplug all corded appliances and each day plug another one back in until it trips, it may help to determine if you have a faulty appliance or an overloaded circuit.
  4. If your dishwasher does not work, look for a switch on the countertop or under the sink that may have been turned off.
  5. If your recessed can lights are going off and on by themselves, it could be too large of a wattage bulb. These fixtures are thermally protected and when they get too hot, will turn off until they cool down.
